Collection: Abstract Expressionism

This collection primarily focuses on the emotions associated with experiencing topical steroid addiction and withdrawal syndrome. A preventable, horrific medical condition not yet recognized in the United States (recognized in the U.K. and Australia). I meditate on a word or phrase that comes to mind in response to the trauma this condition created, and focus on that entirely while I paint. Most of the time I do not have a composition in mind. It evolves organically over the canvas, having a conversation with the pigments (often a minimal palette), and through prayer, leaning into whatever comes to mind be it memories or emotions which surface.
